Sunday work party Nov. 15, 2015

Greetings Friends of Lincoln Park! Our Green Seattle Planting last Saturday was an amazing event. 34 hardy souls planting and mulching 300 plants in the rain. Thanks so much to everyone! Check out our blog for photos and a description of the event. The West Seattle Blog also picked up the event and wrote a wonderful post here.

Now back to the grind of maintaining the areas we've previously placed in restoration. That's what we'll be doing next Sunday.
  • Sunday, Nov 15th 9am to noon
  • Meet at the north parking lot kiosk (Fauntleroy Way SW and SW Rose St)
  • Northwest layers for sure to stay dry and warm. Sturdy shoes or boots, be ready for working in wet areas.
  • Bring garden gloves and clippers, if you have them, or we'll have extras
If you plan to come, please register at http://seattle.cedar.greencitypartnerships.org/event/map/

Find "Lincoln Park" under "Filter by Park", and go to "Join this Event"

Here's an important heads up about dogs in Seattle parks

Most people in Seattle are not aware that the Parks Department is currently reviewing policies for Off Leash Areas and will release a draft of proposed changes and new strategy in early January. The new policy has the potential to affect all parks users: picnickers, hikers, runners, bicyclists, bird watchers, swimmers and natural area stewards as well as dog owners, both those who keep their dogs on leash and those who don’t.

Parks is maintaining a web page (just updated 11/9/15) with some information on the process at http://www.seattle.gov/parks/projects/offleash/ If you care about our parks, check it out — get informed and encourage others to do so.

A group of stewards are also tracking the issue. Contact me if you want more info on our activities.
