A BIG Saturday work party!

Greetings Friends of Lincoln Park, our annual planting event in Lincoln Park is coming right up! This is our major volunteer event of the year and is generally very fun and satisfying after a year of yanking blackberries and ivy---even it rains like it did last year. See here for pictures.
  • Sat, Nov 5th 9am to noon
  • Meet near the north parking lot kiosk (Fauntleroy Way SW and SW Rose St)
  • The forecast at this point is for rain, so be prepared!
We have over 350 plants to put in in several different locations in the park. We're going to need lots of help.

You may have been hearing about proposals from the City Council to encourage homeless people to camp in public spaces, including parks. My sense is that it's not going to happen, but check out our blog for my response to a Real Change editorial on the subject. Homelessness is a very serious problem, deserving of major efforts, but it's important that homeless advocates understand why camping in forested parks is not a good idea. Sharon
Yellowwoods in the park. Not a native in this area, but still beautiful!
