Saturday work party 4/1/17

Greetings Friends of Lincoln Park! We have a work party coming up. This is a wonderful time of the year to hang out in our splendid forest. Get the kids out too!

We will continue our 2017 focus on maintaining all the areas we've already placed in restoration.
  • Saturday, April 1, 9am* to noon
  • Meet near the north parking lot kiosk (Fauntleroy Way SW and SW Rose St)
  • Current forecast is slight chance of rain, so be prepared. Good footwear that will handle wet and using a shovel recommended.
Plant Natives for Birds
The most recent issue of Audubon has an article by Mark Jannot on the value of planting natives, even if it's just containers on your patio or deck, for helping birds survive in the urban environment. Native birds have a clear preference for native plants. Audubon has a website to guide you in plant selection: They apparently lumped eastern and western Washington, so ignore the sagebrush and rabbitbush, but otherwise good suggestions for your yard.

Buy Natives at the Central Puget Sound Chapter/WNPS sale
The Central Puget Sound chapter of the Washington Native Plant Society is holding its annual native plant sale at Mercerdale Park on Mercer Island on Saturday, April 29th. Go to to learn more. It's a fabulous sale!

*If you miss us at 9am, check the map on the kiosk for our work location or call me at 206 464 1068 Sharon
