Saturday work party, 7/1/16

Greetings Friends of Lincoln Park, start your Fourth of July weekend off by doing something for our local environment! We have a work party coming up. Our work parties are a great way to help your kids connect to and learn to understand and appreciate the natural world.
  • Saturday, July 1 9am to noon
  • Meet at north parking lot kiosk (Fauntleroy Way SW and SW Rose St)
  • Even if it's warm, it's a good idea to wear long sleeves and pants with sturdy, closed toe shoes or boot to protect yourself.
As we celebrate our nation's founding, let's also think about our future and why we are doing our forest restoration work. Sometimes, when you're over your head in blackberries, it's easy to lose sight of the big picture. Michael Yadrick is the Park Department Plant Ecologist who provides vital guidance and support to our work. Michael has written a very thoughtful piece on Seattle urban trees and natural areas. He clearly makes the case for the ecological benefits of healthy urban forests. Check out the link below. Sharon

  • Sunday, June 18th, 9am to noon
  • Meet near the north parking lot kiosk (Fauntleroy Way SW & SW Rose St)
  • Long sleeves and pants, with sturdy closed toe shoes or boots strongly suggested for protection
You all know that the work we are doing is of benefit to our community and the planet. You might not know that being out in nature is also good for your personal health. Here's a recent article from The Seattle Weekly describing the benefits. Sharon
