Green Seattle Day!

Greetings Friends of Lincoln Park, our big annual planting day and celebration is coming up! Odd as it may seem, we'll be planting mostly ferns this year in three different areas of the park. These are areas we have been working in for a few years, and they are ready to be "finished" by filling in plantings. In addition to lots of satisfying hard work, we'll have treats and swag.
  • Sat. Nov 4, 9am to noon
  • Meet near the north parking lot kiosk (Fauntleroy Way SW & SW Rose St)
  • Looks as if the mid week rain might let up by then, but don't be fooled. Dress in NW layers to stay warm and dry with sturdy shoes or boots.
We got a head start on our fall planting yesterday. 50+ fifth graders from Gatewood Elementary school came to the park and planted an area they cleared last year as fourth graders. These kids have a tremendous work ethic and they're smart and pay attention. We really appreciate their involvement in our work. In the spring, the current fourth graders will do invasive removal again. The Gatewood teachers and students (and parents) are fabulous and are making a real contribution to their community, as they learn to care for our planet.

See you Saturday! Sharon
